Going Beyond Compassion Fatigue
Going Beyond Compassion Fatigue
Let's be honest, if working with animals was easy, everyone would do it! The reality is that working with animals whether in vet med, animal welfare or lab animal while being extremely satisfying, also exposes you to things that create susceptibility to compassion fatigue, burnout and moral stress. This webinar will teach the foundations of compassion fatigue, burnout and moral stress while offering you my best tools for resiliency so you can continue doing the work you love and making a difference in the lives of animals.
Burnout: Everything But The Kitchen Sink?
Burnout: Everything But The Kitchen Sink?
We're using burnout as a catch-all phrase for any negative work experience and in doing so, we miss determining if we are indeed burned out and how to address the causes and symptoms. This webinar will teach you about work-related stress factors, what exactly burnout is, how your nervous system is involved and my best tools for resiliency so you can continue doing the work you love and making a difference in the lives of animals.
How To Feel Better: The Power of Mindset
How To Feel Better: The Power of Mindset
Many think that life is just happening to them but that's not true. Life is happening and we are responding to it by what we are choosing to think and believe about our circumstances. Whether it's a situation with an animal, conflict with a co-worker or a leadership decision you don't agree with, the most powerful thing you can learn is how to use your brain to think intentionally about these stressors and challenges you face working with animals. How we feel is coming not from our circumstances, but from how we are thinking about those circumstances. In this webinar I will teach you based on cognitive psychology, how to think differently and provide a tool for consistent use to consider alternative thoughts to any situation you face.
Putting the "Self" Back in Self-Care
Putting the "Self" Back in Self-Care
Self-care gets a bad rap for being selfish. It's anything but. Self-care is how you preserve the best of yourself so you can continue to make an impact and a difference in the lives of animals. Women (who make up the majority of animal care professionals) have been socialized to put their needs last and invariably will end up experiencing burnout unless something changes. This webinar will work to shift your mindset about self-care while also addressing the obstacles that commonly get in the way, boundaries and guilt.
Empathy in Veterinary Medicine
Empathy in Veterinary Medicine
Empathy is a vulnerable state because in order to practice empathy with someone, we have to experience the same emotions that they are. Empathy means to feel with another. There are 2 components of Clinical Empathy that must be in place in order to have clients feel as though you are there for them and understand them. This webinar will help you to understand the difference between sympathy, empathy and compassion while also helping you to discover how to utilize the 2 components of Clinical Empathy in your daily interactions with clients.
Grief As a Second Language
Grief As a Second Language
Working with animals will invariably expose you to death quite frequently yet we hardly talk about. But we need to talk about it. Compassion fatigue can result when we don't have the outlet or resources to understand and work through our grief. This webinar will teach you about the different kinds of grief, how to honor your grief and ultimately how to find meaning from those you have lost.
When Clients Bite: Dealing With Difficult People
When Clients Bite: Dealing With Difficult People
Most of us didn't come to this work because of our desire to deal with people and yet vet med and animal welfare are all about the people. Pets need people and therefore we need to establish good relationships with pet owners, even when they don't show up as their best selves. This interactive webinar will help your team better understand and be curious about the emotions (and subsequent behavior) of clients, be able to stay grounded when dealing with challenging people and have boundaries for intolerant behavior so you can provide the best care for the pet.
Calming The Animal Within: Nervous System Resilience
Calming The Animal Within: Nervous System Resilience
We have a lot in common with animals, especially on a nervous system level. Both of our nervous systems are highly inaccurate at sensing danger from a perceived threat. And we are living in times our nervous systems were not designed for! Therefore we are all spending a fair amount of time being dysregulated. In this webinar I will teach you the 3 different nervous system states that are dictating your every experience, how to recognize them in yourself, as well as how to move back to your Resilient Zone when you've left it. This will help you with your wellbeing, quality of work, interactions with patients, clients, co-workers and the public since we're all really just a bunch of nervous systems interacting with each other!
